During her official visit to Albania, the President of the European Investment Bank (EIB), Nadia Calviño, together with Vice-President Robert de Groot, visited one of ProCredit Bank Albania’s partner businesses, which has been supported through a European program aimed at fostering the development of local enterprises. During the visit, the senior EIB representatives were accompanied by the CEO of ProCredit Bank Albania, Mirsad Haliti, highlighting the importance of cooperation between European financial institutions and banks in supporting the local economy.
At the center of this cooperation is a total guarantee line of EUR 50 million, made available to ProCredit Bank under an EU-supported scheme designed to strengthen private sector development in the region. The scheme aims to improve Albanian businesses’ access to finance by offering more favorable lending conditions, greater flexibility regarding collateral requirements, and increased opportunities for long-term investments.
The visit took place at a local business that has benefited from financing for growth and business expansion, directly illustrating how EIB support, channeled through ProCredit Bank, translates into concrete investments in the Albanian economy — including technology, production capacities, energy efficiency, and the creation of new jobs.
ProCredit Bank plays a key role in this process, acting as a long-term partner for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises in Albania. Through its continuous cooperation with international and European financial institutions such as the EIB, the bank aims to introduce more financial instruments and development opportunities for local businesses, contributing to sustainable economic growth.
